Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission at Mangalore is a branch of the worldwide organization, Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission started by Swami Vivekananda with the motto of "service of God in man’" With this ideal we are striving "for the good of many and for the welfare of many".

About our Ashram

Our Ramakrishna Math is situated in the auspicious neighbourhood of the ancient temple of Goddess Mangaladevi in Mangaluru, a beautiful coastal city nestling between the rolling hills of the Western Ghats and the Arabian sea. Sprawling across seven acres of land with hundreds of trees and plants, the ashram complex reflects an ambience of peace and tranquillity and provides a place of solace to the members of the monastic order, the students, visitors and the devotees.

History of Ashram

Ramakrishna Math, Mangaluru was started in a rented building under the leadership of Swami Vimalanandaji in Lalbagh area in Mangalore on 3rd June 1947.

It was shifted to the present premises in August 1951 and Swami Adidevanandaji, a scholar & stalwart headed the ashrama and started various activities.

Activities of Mangaluru Ashram

The service activities organised by Ashrama can be broadly classifieds into four categories. Educational Activities, Social Activities, Cultural Activities & Spiritual Activities are offered for the benefit of the masses. We request to make use of these service activities and join hands in rebuilding India.

Educational & Youth activities

The Ashram conducts various educational & youth activities based on the teaching of Swami Vivekananda. The Math has conducted more than 1000 value education programmes, Personality development programmes, seminars, symposiums and workshops for students, teachers, lecturers, professionals and corporates by inviting several resource persons of international repute.

Cultural activities

Ramakrishna Math Mangaluru can proudly claim to have promoted the vibrant culture of the land. Every year we organize Yakshagaana, Taalamaddale, Ashtaavadhaana, Gamakavaachana, Vaachanagaayana and many other cultural programs promoting the local arts and artists. Our YouTube channel by the name Mangaluru Ramakrishna Mission has until now garnered around 80,000 subscribers in its mission of disseminating Cultural and Spiritual knowledge.

The Adhyaksha ji

Swami Jitakamanand ji Maharaj

Srimat Swami Jitakamanandaji is a senior monk of Sri Ramakrishna Mission. Having been inspired by the life and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, and other saints, he joined the Order in the year 1973.

In the beginning years of his monastic life he served the Mission at Thrissur and Kalady.
