On special Request from Government of India, Ramakrishna Mission Mangaluru took up Swacch Bharath Abhiyan in 2015 and carried on Swacchata Abhiyan as a mass movement in unique way for 5 years. Swacch Bharath, Swacch Mangaluru, Swacch Grama, Swacch Manas & Swacch Soch & Jadoo for Cleanliness successfully created awareness among common public & students. Beautification of Mangaluru city & repair & renewal of public amenities too were carried out. The Abhiyan concluded with massive Shramadan in 2019.

On request from responsible Mangaloreans we have decided to initiate 2^nd phase of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan from 1^st October. This phase will lay stress on Awareness drives about segregation of waste, Swacch Manas programmes in selected schools, cleanliness drive once in a month & beautification of Mangaluru city.

In response to the call from Honorable Prime Minister, 2^nd Phase of Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan will be flagged off on 1^st October 2023 at Ramakrishna Math at 7.30 am in a special programme, “Swachhanjali”. Abhiyan will be inaugurated by Dr Vinay Hegde N, Chancellor of Nitte University in the presence of Swami Jitakamanandaji, Adhyaksha of Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore. Sri Nalin Kumar Kateel, MP of Dakshina Kannada will be the Chief Guest. Sri Sudhir Shetty Kannur, Mayor of Mangalore City, Sri Vedavyas Kamath, MLA of Mangalore South & Sri Manjunath Bhandary, MLC will be Guests of Honour. Sri Praveen Chandra Alva, Leader of Opposition, MCC, Sri Premananda Shetty, Ex-Mayor & Sri Sudhakar Kottary, DGM of Canara Bank Circle office Mangalore will be Special Invitees. Inaugural programme will be followed by Massive Plogging Drive at 8.30 – combination of Jogging & picking up litter – This will be flagged off by Sri Krishna Hegde, GGM – HR, MRPL. More than 600 volunteers are expected to participate in the programme. We invite all likeminded and responsible citizens of Mangalore to join the Abhiyan and contribute their mite in this noble task.
