MISSION CLEAN INDIA – MASSIVE SHRAMADAN

Sun September 29, 2019 - from 7:00 am IST onwards
Central Market area Central Market area

About

Swacchata Abhiyan initiated by Ramakrishna Mission on request from Govt. of India in 2014 has completed five successful phases and as planned we are concluding the Abhiyan on 2nd October 2019, coinciding with 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji.

In our journey so far, it gladdens us to share that more than 250 groups heeded to our call and extended their support in conducting more than 2500 programmes amounting to 20 Lakh man hours. 200 weeks of Sunday Shramadans in different parts of the city have yielded positive results. This movement has an extended family of nearly 10000 volunteers. About 13000 students have enrolled themselves to be Swacchata Senanis.

All through, the prime focus of the Abhiyan has been to create awareness among the people, especially students & youths and we feel our efforts in this regard are more or less rewarded. Hundreds of black spots have disappeared in the city thanks to the volunteers and the positive mind set of the local public. To spread this awareness in rural areas, Swacch Gram was initiated in 200 villages. Awareness has been created through beautification & renovation of public utility places, betterment of civic amenities, art camps, door to door campaign of segregating & managing household waste through pot-composting etc.

Thousands of people from all walks of life, irrespective of distinction of caste, creed or religion, with the single motive of keeping their beloved Mangaluru clean, dedicatedly working under the auspices of Ramakrishna Mission – this fact vouches for the awareness created by the Abhiyan.

We shall be organizing a final & massive cleanliness drive at Central Market area on 29th September 2019 at 7.30 am. Sri Kota Srinivas Poojary, Dist. In charge Minister & Minister for Fisheries, Port & Muzarai, Govt. of Karnataka will be flagging off the massive Shramadan in the divine presence of Srimat Swami Gautamanandaji Maharaj, Vice President, Ramakrishna Math & Mission, Belur Math.
