Balakashrama
Started in 1951, Ramakrishna Mission Balakashrama provides free boarding, lodging and educational facilities to 75 students belonging to economically backward families coming from rural area, irrespective of caste or creed.
Ramakrishna Mission Balakashrama provides its students with essential educational support, including uniforms, textbooks, notebooks, school fees, and other necessary learning materials.
The boys are encouraged to cultivate good character, develop a sense of social responsibility, acquire refined tastes, and nurture self-respect and virtuous values. An important feature of the Balakashrama is the active involvement of the boys in managing its day-to-day affairs, including the upkeep and maintenance of the premises. Through these responsibilities, they learn self-reliance, the dignity of labour, cooperation, discipline, and the importance of personal effort.
The boys also participate in the daily spiritual activities of the Ashrama, including morning and evening congregational prayers. They are taught to chant Vedic hymns and recite verses from the Srimad Bhagavad Gita, fostering spiritual awareness, concentration, and a deeper appreciation of Indian cultural and spiritual traditions.
Through a balanced emphasis on education, character-building, self-discipline, service, and spiritual development, Balakashrama strives to nurture responsible, self-reliant, and value-oriented individuals.
