On the occasion of Kalpataru Day we had organised a gita – nritya-rupaka programme staged by the students of Bhuvanendra College, Karkala. The rupaka was directed by Sri Udyavara Madhavacharya based on the work by Late Pu. Ti. Narasimhachar.
Ramakrishna Math is conducting a Yogasana Camp for 15 days starting from 28th November. The camp will be from 6.30 pm to 7.30 pm and will be guided by Sri Mohan Kumblekar.

Ramakrishna Math in association with “Vibhinna” is organizing Yakshagana on the 17th & 18th December in SWami Vivekananda Auditorium from 2.00 pm to 8.00 pm. Artistes from both Tenku thittu and Badagu thittu will be performing “Lankadahana”, “Ramanjaneya”, “Narakasura Vadhe”, “Garuda Garva bhanga” and “Krishnarjuna” Entry is free. All are welcome.
Antaryoga – one day spiritual retreat was held in our Ashrama on the 21st November. About 450 people participated in the retreat. The programme consisted of Archana, Lectures by Swami Harshanandaji Maharaj & Sri Lakshmisha Tolpady, Bhajans and drama.
Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore distributed scholarships to deserving needy students on the 27th September. Scholarships to the tune of about one lakh was distributed among 125 students during the occasion. Swami Jitakamanandaji distributed the scholarships on behalf of our Ashrama.
Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore conducted Seminars for Youths from 27th to 29th September. More than 600 youths participated on each day in the seminars. The seminar was organized for B Ed students on the first day, Students of Post Graduate Studies in Social Work and Management on the second day and for engineering students on the third day. Lokayukta of Karnataka, Justice N Santosh Hegde, Swami Sarvasthanandaji of Ramakrishna Ashrama, Rajkot, Dr. H N Vishwanath of Mysore, Prof. Swapan Garain of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, Sri Hiranmay Mahanta of IIM, Ahmedabad were the resource persons. The purpose of this seminar was to synergize talents and capabilities of our youths to script the great Indian story of inclusive growth – a total regeneration of our country in all the fields of life, encompassing all the sections of the society, as envisioned by Swami Vivekananda. The seminars were organized as a prelude to Swami Vivekananda’s 150th Birth Anniversary Celebrations.

Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore is conducting a free Sanskrit Speaking Course in association with Samskrita Bharathi, Mangalore. Dr. Shantala of Samskrita Bharati will be conducting the camp. The course will commence from 8th October from 5.30 pm for two hours for 10 days.

Sri Ganesha Chaturthi will be celebrated at Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore on the 11th September, Saturday.
Lord Ganesha will be worshipped in the idol at about 10.00 am. There will be bhajans from 10.00 am to 11.20 am followed by Arathi, Arghya Pradan and Prasada Distribution. In the evening Arathi and Special offerings to Lord Ganesha will start at 6.45 pm followed by Bhajans.
On the 12th September Ganesha will be worshipped at 10.00 am followed by Bhajans. Evening after Sandhyarati there will be a procession followed by immersion of the idol.
Sri Krishna Janmashtami will be observed in the Ashrama on Wednesday, the 1st September 2010. Features are as follows:

Ramakrishna Math,Mangalore conducted a spiritual Retreat on Sunday, the 22nd August. About 275 devotees attended the day long retreat.
The programme consisted of Bhajans, Lectures by Swami Shivakantanandaji of Ramakrishna Sharadashrama, Ponnampet, by Swami Jnanayoganandaji of Ramakrishna Ashrama, Mysore in the forenoon. Forenoon session was followed by lunch.
In the afternoon session there was a special programme Gamaka Vachana-Vyakhyana by Vidwan Sri Hosahalli Keshava Murthy and Vidwan Sri Mattur Markandeya Avadhani. Swami Jitakamanandaji delivered a lecture after tea.
A Public meeting was organized by the managing committee of the Ramakrishna Mission in the Ashrama to felicitate Swami Purnakamanandaji and to welcome Swami Jitakamanandaji as the new head of the centre.
The programme began with devotional songs by Sri Dattatreya Velankar, an alumnus of our Balakashrama followed by invocation by the students of Balakashrama.
Sri U V Bhat, President of the managing committee welcomed the gathering and dignitaries. Swami Purnakamanandaji introduced Swami Jtakamanandaji to the assembled devotees and well-wishers. Later many devotees from different parts expressed their opinions and thanked SWami Purnakamanandaji for his selfless service and dedication. They honored him and welcomed Swami Jitakamanandaji Mj and pledged their support in all the endeavours of the Ashrama. Swami Jagadatmanandaji and Swami Sureshanandaji too spoke in the meeting.
About 25 Sadhus from different parts of Karnataka and more than 600 devotees, friends and well-wishers of the institution had attended the public meeting.
In the morning in an informal function Swami Jitakamanandaji took charge of the centre from the hands of Swami Purnakamanandaji Mj.
Srimath Swami Jitakamanandaji is a senior monk of Sri Ramakrishna Mission. Having been inspired by the life and teachings of Sri Ramakrishna, Vivekananda, and other saints, he joined the Order in the year 1973.
In the beginning years of his monastic life he served the Mission at Thrissur and Kalady in Kerala.
Later, after his ordination in to Sannyas, he served for 18 years, as in-charge of Ramakrishna Mission Balakashrama (Students’ home) at Mangalore, where he helped many rural poor students to get higher education.
Prior to taking charge of mangalore centre he was serving as the Director (Correspondent), Ramakrishna Institute of Moral and spiritual Education, Yadavagiri, Mysore, which trains the in-service and pre-service teachers in Value Education. He has given a number of talks on value education and personality development in different educational institutions throughout India.
He has conducted many value orientation programs to rural teachers, rural students, J.N.V. Principals, Officials, K.M.F staffs executives, directors, Parle group, Vikrant tyres, Mahajana students every year for 9 yeras in RIMSE. He has lot of experience in the field of education.
He is a powerful orator and a prolific writer in both Kannada and English.
About 60 students studying in 10th Std belonging to Chinmaya High School along with their teachers visited Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore to attend a retreat on the 30th July 2010.
They were addressed by Swami Purnakamanandaji, Swami Muktipadanandaji and Swami Trilokatmanandaji. Retreat consisted of Prayer, Bhajans, Guided Meditation, lectures on Value Education & Personality Development followed by Question and Answer session. The students went around the campus after the programme and took food in the ashrama.

Swami Jitakamanandaji Maharaj, presently Correspondent of Ramakrishna Institute of Moral & Spiritual Education, Mysore will be taking over the charge of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission at Mangalore.
Joining the Ramakrishna Mission in 1973, he has served in various educational institutes of the Ramakrishna Order in different capacities at Trissur, Kalady, Mangalore and Mysore. He was the Warden of Ramakrishna Balakashrama for nearly 20 years.
Swami Jitakamanandaji is arriving in Mangalore on the 13th August evening and will be taking over the charge of the Ashrama on the 15th August.
Swami Purnakamanandaji Maharaj, present In charge of Mangalore Ashrama will be leading a retired life in contemplation at Mangalore Ashrama itself after handing over the charge to Swami Jitakamanandaji.

Ramakrishna Math conducted a yoga camp from 10th July to 24th July for 15 days. About 60 interested participants were benefited by the camp.
Sri Mohan Kumblekar guided the aspirants in different Asanas, Agnihotra, Jalaneti and Pranayama etc.
Spiritual Retreat was conducted at Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore on the 27th June. Features of the programme included Bhajans, Lectures and special programme, “Jago Hindusthani” by Sri Adarsha Gokhale and Party from Karkala.
Lectures were delivered by Swami Purnakamanandaji & Swami Vireshanandaji, Editor, Viveka Prabha, Ramakrishna Math, Mysore.
About 300 devotees participated in the full day retreat.
One day reorientation camp for Yoga TEachers of Dakshina Kannada Dist. was held in Ramakrishna Math Mangalore on 25th June. About 225 Yoga teachers from different parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi dist participated in the programme. The programme was jointly organized by Ramakrishna Math with Education Department and Shantivana Trust, Dharmasthala.
The programme started at about 10.30 inaugurated by Swami Purnakamanandaji. Swamiji delivered the inaugural address which was followed by guest lectures by Dr. Sonda Bhaskar Bhat and others. Sri Shashikant Jain of Shantivana Trust and other office bearers were present during the occasion.
Swami Sunirmalanandaji Maharaj of Vedanta Ashrama, Brazil visited Mangalore for three days from 22nd June to 24th June.
During his stay here he addressed the students of Karnataka College of Ayurveda on the topic, “Mind And Its Control” on the 22nd evening. About 250 students attended the lecture. He addressed the students of Canara PU College on the 23rd morning on the topic, “Vivekananda & the Youth”. About 75 students were benefitted by his thought provoking lecture. He addressed the devotees on the 23rd evening on Spiritual Life.
After paying a visit to Sringeri, he moved to Mysore on the 24th evening.
The new batch of Vivekananda Coaching Centre was inaugurated at Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore on the 30th May.
Dr. Ramagopal Shetty, M.D. M V Shetty Educational Institutions, Mangalore and Sri Mallya M M, Retd. AGM, Syndicate Bank were the chief guests during the occasion. Both of them addressed the students and their parents gathered during the occasion.
Free study materials worth more than one lakh rupees were also distributed among 150 poor students of the coaching centre during the occasion.
