Swami Jitakamanandaji Maharaj, presently Correspondent of Ramakrishna Institute of Moral & Spiritual Education, Mysore will be taking over the charge of Ramakrishna Math & Ramakrishna Mission at Mangalore.
Joining the Ramakrishna Mission in 1973, he has served in various educational institutes of the Ramakrishna Order in different capacities at Trissur, Kalady, Mangalore and Mysore. He was the Warden of Ramakrishna Balakashrama for nearly 20 years.
Swami Jitakamanandaji is arriving in Mangalore on the 13th August evening and will be taking over the charge of the Ashrama on the 15th August.
Swami Purnakamanandaji Maharaj, present In charge of Mangalore Ashrama will be leading a retired life in contemplation at Mangalore Ashrama itself after handing over the charge to Swami Jitakamanandaji.

Ramakrishna Math conducted a yoga camp from 10th July to 24th July for 15 days. About 60 interested participants were benefited by the camp.
Sri Mohan Kumblekar guided the aspirants in different Asanas, Agnihotra, Jalaneti and Pranayama etc.
Spiritual Retreat was conducted at Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore on the 27th June. Features of the programme included Bhajans, Lectures and special programme, “Jago Hindusthani” by Sri Adarsha Gokhale and Party from Karkala.
Lectures were delivered by Swami Purnakamanandaji & Swami Vireshanandaji, Editor, Viveka Prabha, Ramakrishna Math, Mysore.
About 300 devotees participated in the full day retreat.
One day reorientation camp for Yoga TEachers of Dakshina Kannada Dist. was held in Ramakrishna Math Mangalore on 25th June. About 225 Yoga teachers from different parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi dist participated in the programme. The programme was jointly organized by Ramakrishna Math with Education Department and Shantivana Trust, Dharmasthala.
The programme started at about 10.30 inaugurated by Swami Purnakamanandaji. Swamiji delivered the inaugural address which was followed by guest lectures by Dr. Sonda Bhaskar Bhat and others. Sri Shashikant Jain of Shantivana Trust and other office bearers were present during the occasion.
Swami Sunirmalanandaji Maharaj of Vedanta Ashrama, Brazil visited Mangalore for three days from 22nd June to 24th June.
During his stay here he addressed the students of Karnataka College of Ayurveda on the topic, “Mind And Its Control” on the 22nd evening. About 250 students attended the lecture. He addressed the students of Canara PU College on the 23rd morning on the topic, “Vivekananda & the Youth”. About 75 students were benefitted by his thought provoking lecture. He addressed the devotees on the 23rd evening on Spiritual Life.
After paying a visit to Sringeri, he moved to Mysore on the 24th evening.
The new batch of Vivekananda Coaching Centre was inaugurated at Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore on the 30th May.
Dr. Ramagopal Shetty, M.D. M V Shetty Educational Institutions, Mangalore and Sri Mallya M M, Retd. AGM, Syndicate Bank were the chief guests during the occasion. Both of them addressed the students and their parents gathered during the occasion.
Free study materials worth more than one lakh rupees were also distributed among 150 poor students of the coaching centre during the occasion.

Ramakrishna Mission @ Mangalore is running Vivekananda Coaching Centre for the past few years, giving free tution to poor and needy students. About 150-200 poor students from neighbouring areas daily attend the tution classes held in the Ashrama premises. Tution class is held for two hours in the evening from 4.00 pm to 6.00 pm for 5th to 9th std students. They are also given milk every day.
Every year we distribute school bags, uniforms, note books, umbrellas, stationery items and other study materials worth Rs. 1,00,000/- to all these students at the beginning of the academic year.
This year on the 30th May, a small function has been organized in the Ashrama auditorium from 5.00 pm to 6.30 pm. Dr. Ramagopal Shetty, Chairman, M V Shetty Educational Institutions has consented to inaugurate the new academic year of the coaching centre and distribute the study materilas among the students. Sri M M Mallya, Retd. AGM, Syndicate Bank, will also distribute the materials to the students. On the occasion he will also address the students and their parents for few minutes followed by the benedictory address by Swami Purnakamanandaji, secretary, Ramakrishna MIssion, Mangalore.
Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore is conducting a Yogasana Camp for 15 days starting from 10th May to 25th May. Sri Mohan Kumblekar will be instructing the candidates. Participants will be taught yogasana, pranayama, jalanei etc. Camp is open to all irrespective of caste, creed or sex. There is an entry fee of Rs. 100/- per head. Ramakrishna Mission @ Mangalore is runing a Balakashrama, free hostel for students from 8th to 10th std. Students who have passed 7th std with first class marks and are coming from rural background, irrespective of caste or creed, are admitted into the hostel after an entry test. They will be provided free boarding, lodging and educational facilities here though out their stay.
In the Balakashrama, the boys are encouraged to cultivate virtuous tendencies, acquire the art of social duty, develop refined tastes, cultivate self-respect etc. One of the important features is that the boys are allowed to manage the affairs of the Balakashrama, including the up-keep of premises, inculcating thereby the spirit of self-reliance, dignity of labour, co-operation and personal effort. They participate in the daily routine of the Math such as morning and evening congregational prayer.

Ramakrishna Math @ Mangalore is organizing a Personality Development Camp for interested students from 16th April to 30thy April. The camp will be from 9.00am till noon and special features of the camp include Vedic Chanting, Gita Chanting, Bhajans, Guided Meditation, Valued education programmes etc. Entry to the camp is free of cost. Mangalore Ramakrishna Math launched its website on the 1st February.
In a simple function held at the Math office Sri Sujeer Prabhakar, DGM, Syndicate Bank, Mangalore launched the website of the Ashrama. He was accompanied by Sri Mohan Kini, AGM, Syndicate Bank. All the monks of the Ashrama along with some of the committee members were present on the occasion.
Swami Veetamohanandaji, In-Charge of Vedanta Society of France visited Mangalore along with some French devotees and stayed in our Math for 5 days.During his stay he addressed the Mangalore devotees on the 24th evening for about 45 minutes on the topic, “Spiritual Life”
He also visited some pilgrim places nearby Mangalore like Polali etc with the devotees.
Samskrita Sambhashana Shibira that started at Ramakrishna Math, Mangalore on the 16th January got concluded on the 29th. About 48 people participated in the camp and got benefitted. The Camp was organized in association with Samskrita Bharati, Mangalore. Sri Santosh, Lecturer, Sharada Vidyaniketan, Mangalore taught the participants Conversational Sanskrit. All the participants were very happy and wanted to attend more such camps in future.
Seeing the genuine interest of the participants a series of classes will be held on every Thursday evenings in our Library hall from 6 to 7.30 pm. Interested can contact Ashrama office for more details.
